6.7 magnitude earthquake in Japan! Tsunami warning issued
A 6.7 magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of Iwate Prefecture in Japan. A tsunami warning was issued for Iwate following the quake.
Japan has been shaken by a 6.7 magnitude earthquake. According to a statement from the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), the tremor, with its epicenter off the coast of Iwate Prefecture, occurred at 17:03 local time.
While a tsunami warning was issued for Iwate Prefecture following the earthquake, it was announced that tsunami waves reaching heights of 20 centimeters have been observed along the coastal areas of the prefecture.
Stating that tsunami waves reaching heights of 1 meter could be seen in the coming hours, officials warned residents in the region to stay away from coastal areas.
