6 politicians detained in Diyarbakır's Ergani on charges of being members of an organization have been arrested
Six politicians, including former mayors, who were detained in Ergani, Diyarbakır on June 8, have been arrested on charges of being members of an organization.
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, former Ergani co-mayors Ahmet Kaya, Ramazan Kartalmış, and Fesih Yalçın, along with former deputy mayors Gülistan Polat, Esveri Malkoç, and Cavidan Yaman, who were detained on June 8, have been arrested by the court to which they were referred.
The politicians, who were brought to the Ergani Courthouse following their procedures at the police station, were accused by the prosecutor's office of participating in actions, events, and municipal activities between 2014 and 2019, and were referred to the Duty Magistrate's Court with a request for their arrest on charges of "being a member of an organization." The 6 individuals were subsequently arrested and sent to the Diyarbakır D-Type Prison.
