6 suspects detained in pasta factory explosion

Following the explosion at the Oba Makarna factory in the Hendek district of Sakarya, which left 1 person dead and 30 injured, detention orders have been issued for 6 out of 7 suspects who were summoned to the courthouse to provide statements.

6 suspects detained in pasta factory explosion

In the explosion that occurred on Sunday, September 15, at the Oba Makarna factory operating near the Hendek toll booths on the Anatolian Motorway, 1 person lost their life and 30 people were injured.

The fire resulting from the explosion was brought under control after extensive efforts by the teams. 27-year-old Mesut Şimay, whose lifeless body was found inside the factory during the ongoing cooling operations by the fire department, was laid to rest in the Akyazı district.

6 SUSPECTS, INCLUDING FACTORY OWNERS, DETAINED

Meanwhile, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan had announced that 2 inspectors were assigned to investigate the explosion that occurred at a factory in the Hendek district of Sakarya.

Efforts by the teams to determine the cause of the explosion are ongoing. In this context, as part of the investigation initiated by the Hendek Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 7 suspects, including factory owners and managers, were summoned to the Hendek Courthouse to provide statements.

Following the completion of their statements at the prosecutor's office, a total of 6 suspects, including 2 factory owners, were detained. One person was released after providing their statement. The detained suspects are expected to be referred back to the courthouse in the morning following processing at the police station.
