61 suspects apprehended in Istanbul-based 'Kuyu-11' operations

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced in a statement on his social media account that 61 suspects were apprehended in the "Kuyu-11" operations conducted in 4 provinces, including Istanbul, against an organized crime group led by Tuncer Aslan that was involved in loan sharking, and provided the following information:

"We will not give any breathing room to loan sharks, just as we do not to organized crime groups and gangs. As a result of the work carried out by the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Financial Crimes Bureau under the coordination of the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; it was determined that the members of the organized crime group, who were targeted in operations centered in Istanbul and extending to Ağrı, Sakarya, and Kocaeli for the crimes of 'Loan Sharking, Establishing an Organization for the Purpose of Committing Crimes, Extortion, and Threat,' provided loans to individuals at high interest rates, took many checks, promissory notes, real estate, and vehicles of various amounts as collateral for these debts, and threatened the borrowers and their families."

As a result of the operations, 8 pistols, 6 of which were unlicensed, 2 pump-action shotguns, and a large number of promissory notes and checks were seized. I congratulate our Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and our heroic police officers who carried out the operations. May God protect you. The prayers of our nation are with you. Those who are arrogant in crime will find our law enforcement forces and the supreme Turkish justice system facing them."
