62 irregular migrants apprehended off the coast of Muğla
62 irregular migrants, including 18 children, were apprehended off the coasts of the Bodrum and Marmaris districts of Muğla. The apprehended irregular migrants were handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.
According to the statement made by the Coast Guard Command, after a group of irregular migrants was detected inside a sailboat by the Coast Guard Mobile Radar (MORAD-16) off the coast of the Bodrum district, Coast Guard boats were dispatched to the area.
52 irregular migrants, including 15 children, and 2 suspected human smugglers were apprehended on the boat, which was stopped by the teams on the route to Italy.
Information was also received that a group of irregular migrants had requested assistance in the Namlıalan Bay of Marmaris, an area inaccessible by land. A Coast Guard boat and teams from the Bozburun Gendarmerie Station Command were directed to the region.
10 irregular migrants, including 3 children, were apprehended on land by the teams.
The irregular migrants were handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.
2 people were also taken into custody on allegations of human smuggling.
