7 dead from bootleg alcohol in Istanbul: 2 suspects in custody

Following the deaths of Turkmen nationals Agajan Bashımov and Rahmatullah Artıkov yesterday, and Ravshan Sayıtınıyovoz today, who had been receiving treatment in the hospital, teams from the Başakşehir Public Security Bureau launched an investigation into the deaths caused by bootleg alcohol.

It was determined that Odil Alimov, Islambek Begov, Roza Kurambaeva, and Erdinç Öksüzce, who had been hospitalized earlier in the day, also passed away.

LOCATION WHERE ALCOHOL WAS SOLD IDENTIFIED

The teams, who determined that Murat P., Murat J., Allayar A., Golibjon R., Bakhtyor B., Yulmurod A., and Izzat R. were also receiving treatment in the hospital due to bootleg alcohol, identified that the bootleg alcohol was sold by Turkmen nationals Agazhan O. and Amangul D. at a workplace on Gürsu Street in the Ziya Gökalp neighborhood.

Determining that the suspects were also producing bootleg alcohol in a house near this workplace, the teams took the 2 suspects into custody during an operation they conducted.

During searches at the addresses of these individuals, approximately 50 liters of bootleg alcohol, 36 narcotic pills, 5 pieces of narcotic substances, a precision scale, opium gum, a migrant identity card suspected to be fake, and a large quantity of medical drugs were seized.

Four Turkmen nationals, who were determined to be residing illegally at this address by paying rent to the suspects, were also taken to the police department for processing.

The Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has also launched an investigation into the suspects Agazhan O. and Amangul D. on charges of "causing death by negligence," "drug trafficking," "producing and selling bootleg alcohol," "possession of unidentified medical drugs," "migrant smuggling," and "forgery of official documents."
