7 suspects accused of selling information to MOSSAD referred to courthouse
Seven suspects identified as selling information they obtained to the Israeli intelligence service MOSSAD have been referred to the courthouse following a joint operation conducted by the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) and the Istanbul Police Department.
The procedures at the police station for the 7 suspects, who were captured in an operation conducted by teams from the MİT and the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch on allegations of selling information they obtained to MOSSAD, have been completed.
The suspects were referred to the courthouse following health checks.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In the operation targeting the suspects accused of selling information they obtained to MOSSAD, 7 suspects were captured. It was determined that one of the suspects was former police chief Hamza Turhan A., who appeared on morning television programs, and that MOSSAD had contacted this individual through an agent codenamed "Victoria".
MİT determined that Hamza Turhan A., who was stated to be working as a private investigator, was leaking information to MOSSAD in exchange for money and revealed that he had formed a team consisting of individuals, including public officials, to obtain information.
It was learned that Hamza Turhan A., who received training from MOSSAD in Belgrade in 2019 regarding the work to be done, was initially used by the Israeli secret service for simple tasks. It was later determined that, under the direction of the service, he used secret communication applications and received payments in cryptocurrency to avoid appearing in official records.
It was alleged that Hamza Turhan A., who was also accused of engaging in threats and surveillance activities in addition to leaking information, transmitted the real-time locations of his targets to MOSSAD using tracking devices he placed on their vehicles, harassed these individuals, and occasionally issued threats.
In the details of the operation, teams identified the identities and addresses of 8 suspects who were determined to have leaked information about some Palestinians and their companies to MOSSAD in exchange for money, and captured 7 of the suspects in the operation they organized.
It was determined that the suspects included former police chief Hamza Turhan A., who had been dismissed from his profession, and that this person had made many posts against Israel on social media. It was also revealed that one of the suspects, İsmail K., a police officer previously dismissed due to FETÖ, had also transmitted information he obtained to MOSSAD.
Furthermore, 4.5 kilograms of narcotics and a precision scale were seized during a search of İsmail K.'s home.
It was learned that the captured Özkan Ş. had been dismissed from the police force, Ömer Burak G. had resigned voluntarily, and Ercan K. was a retired police officer, while information was obtained that Mehmet Y. was a tax office employee and Funda K. worked in the private sector.
