70 percent increase in presidential expenses, daily expenditure at 26.2 million liras

CHP Gaziantep Deputy Hasan Öztürkmen stated that, according to the Court of Accounts report, there was an approximately 70 percent increase in the Presidency's expenses compared to 2022, with the palace's total expenditure in 2023 reaching 9.56 billion TL and its daily expenditure hitting 26.2 million liras.

Öztürkmen, who noted an approximately 70 percent increase in presidential expenses compared to 2022, explained:

“According to the Court of Accounts' 2023 report, the Presidency's operating expenses in 2023 amounted to 9,565,656,331.30 TL (9.56 billion). In 2022, this figure was 5,363,433,755.07 TL (5.3 billion).

AN INCREASE OF NEARLY 70 PERCENT WAS OBSERVED

Presidential spending, which was 15.5 million liras per day in 2022, rose to 26.2 million liras per day in 2023. In other words, the Palace spent an average of 1,541 minimum wages per day in 2023! The number of minimum wages spent in one year is 562,465! Calculated at this rate of increase, the total presidential expenses in 2024 will be at least 16 billion TL! A savings package for the citizens, a budget of opulence for the Palace.

PROTECTION EXPENSES ARE ANOTHER MATTER

According to police data, Erdoğan's protection army, namely the Presidential Protection Department, spent 798 million TL in the first 4 months of the year. In the same period, 244 million TL was spent on the TBMM Protection Department, 221 million TL on the Department of Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime, and 191 million TL on the Cybercrime Department. That is more than the total of those three institutions...

How many people are in this army? Who are they protecting, how many people are they protecting, and are there people among them who do not have an official duty? No one knows exactly what this much money is spent on. Considering the data from the first 4 months of the year, approximately 2.4 billion TL will have been spent on the Palace's protection army by the end of the year. Such an ‘elitist’ protection is rarely seen in few countries in the world.”
