70-year-old man kills his 68-year-old wife
In the Araban district of Gaziantep, a 70-year-old man shot and killed his 68-year-old wife with a rifle.
The incident occurred around 15:00 in the rural Dağdancık Neighborhood of Gaziantep's Araban district.
According to allegations, 70-year-old M.E. Mercandağı shot his wife Fatma Mercandağı (68), with whom he was arguing for an unknown reason, with a rifle near the village condolence house.
While the elderly woman was seriously injured, numerous gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched to the scene upon reports from citizens in the vicinity.
Medical teams arriving at the scene transported the seriously injured Fatma Mercandağı to Araban State Hospital by ambulance after initial intervention.
Despite all interventions at the hospital, Mercandağı could not be saved and lost her life.
The body of the deceased woman was taken to the Gaziantep Forensic Medicine Institute morgue.
The murder suspect M.E. Mercandağı was taken into custody by gendarmerie teams. A comprehensive investigation into the incident has been launched.
