75 patients underwent 'unnecessary' surgery: New scandal in healthcare
In a state hospital in Diyarbakır, it was determined that 75 patients were fitted with metal implants unnecessarily. Some staff members, suspicious of the procedures performed by their colleagues, investigated the operations and revealed that patients aged between 2 and 40 had their fractures treated with inappropriate methods.
A scandal at the Diyarbakır Selahaddin Eyyübi State Hospital has sparked a new debate in the healthcare system. Some staff members working in the hospital's Orthopedics Department, suspicious of the high volume of surgeries and the use of metal implants, examined the patients' X-rays. As a result of the examinations, it was determined that 75 patients were fitted with metal implants even though it was not medically necessary.

The team that conducted the investigation determined that the fractures of patients aged between 2 and 40 were treated with inappropriate methods. Analyses performed on the patients' X-rays revealed that the insertion of metal implants was unnecessary.
According to the report by Hazar Dost on Arena with Uğur Dündar, broadcast on SZC TV, the IYI Party announced that it would file a criminal complaint regarding the matter. Party officials stated that they would initiate legal proceedings to bring those responsible for the scandal to justice.
The hospital administration has not yet made an official statement regarding the issue. However, following the incident's reflection in the media, the Ministry of Health is expected to launch an investigation into the matter.
