8-point declaration on Turkey's goals following the NSC meeting: Constructive stance reaffirmed

The National Security Council convened on August 6, 2026, under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In the declaration published following the meeting, domestic and foreign developments concerning Turkey's national security were evaluated.

While the declaration conveyed a message of determination in the fight against terrorism, it also called on the international community to take a clear stance against ceasefire violations in Gaza and Israel's aggressive attitude.

The following statements were made in the announcement released after the NSC meeting:

The National Security Council convened on August 6, 2026, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

At the meeting; 1. The Council was briefed on the activities carried out with perseverance, determination, and success both domestically and abroad against all kinds of threats and dangers to our national unity, solidarity, and survival, particularly the PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETÖ, and DAESH terrorist organizations, as well as recent international developments.

2. Progress made toward the goals of a 'Terror-Free Turkey' and a 'Terror-Free Region' was discussed; consultations were held regarding the subsequent stages of efforts that constitute a historic milestone in securing the security, stability, and prosperity of our country and our region.

3. On the tenth anniversary of the national resistance shown against the treacherous July 15 coup attempt, the current status of the fight against FETÖ was evaluated; it was noted that measures aimed at completely eliminating the network of treason will be maintained with sensitivity.

4. It was stated that the NATO Summit, successfully hosted by our country, was a critical threshold for the future of the alliance; Turkey's constructive stance regarding sharing the advanced capabilities and facilities it has developed with its allies was reaffirmed.

5. The risks and threats posed by the renewed clashes between Iran and the US potentially spreading to regional countries and global trade routes were highlighted; all parties were called upon to refrain from the use of force and to return to negotiations aimed at establishing lasting peace.

6. It was emphasized that the strategic impasse in the Russia-Ukraine War cannot be overcome by turning neighboring regions, particularly the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, into conflict zones; the warring parties were invited to reduce the rising tension in the region and take concrete steps toward establishing peace.

7. The great importance of the multi-dimensional cooperation developed with our neighbors Syria and Iraq for the security, peace, and prosperity of our region was underscored; it was stated that Turkey will continue to provide maximum contribution to processes aimed at consolidating regional solidarity.

8. It was emphasized that the international community must display a clear and uncompromising stance against the Israeli Administration, which continues to violate the ceasefire despite progress made in recent days within the framework of the Gaza Peace Plan, escalates settler terrorism in Palestinian territories, and continues its provocative attacks on holy sites, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
