82 mine workers and their families, who were protesting in Ankara over unpaid wages at Doruk Madencilik, a subsidiary of Yıldızlar SSS Holding, have been released after being detained. It was reported that the detention process for Bağımsız Maden-İş Union Organizing Expert Başaran Aksu is ongoing.
Workers who are members of the Bağımsız Maden-İş Union and employed at Doruk Madencilik, a subsidiary of Yıldızlar SSS Holding, were released after being detained during their protest in front of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in Ankara.
The workers, who stated that their payments had not been made, had traveled to Ankara to voice their demands. 82 workers protesting in front of the ministry were detained the day before yesterday.
It was reported that the detained workers were released on the fourth day of the protest. It was announced that Bağımsız Maden-İş Union Organizing Expert Başaran Aksu remains in custody.
In a statement made on the union's social media account, it was emphasized that Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar preferred to meet with the holding's management instead of engaging with the miners.
The statement included the following remarks: "We promise, we will not leave Ankara until we win and the miners receive their rights. Başaran Aksu must be released immediately. Yıldızlar SSS Holding should be nationalized, and worker claims should be paid by the Ministry that has been fattening the holding."
The union announced that they will continue their struggle with the demands that the workers' claims be paid and that Başaran Aksu be released.
