9 arrested in Serdar Öktem murder case

Nine out of 13 suspects detained in connection with the murder of lawyer Serdar Öktem, who lost his life in an armed attack in Zincirlikuyu, have been arrested.

9 arrested in Serdar Öktem murder case

The vehicle used by suspects S.Ö, E.P, M.K, C.Ü, and S.A, who fled after carrying out an armed attack with long-barreled weapons on lawyer Serdar Öktem in Zincirlikuyu on October 6 at approximately 16:15, was found abandoned in a forest in the İstiklal neighborhood of Arnavutköy.

Upon determining that the suspects had fled by taxi, the vehicle was tracked and stopped in the Odayeri area. The suspects, who got out of the taxi and attempted to flee through the trees, were apprehended. Five suspects, two of whom were under the age of 18, and one person determined to have assisted them were taken into custody.

During searches conducted by teams in the area, 2 Kalashnikov rifles, 2 pistols, and equipment such as ski masks and gloves were seized. In the course of the investigation, H.Ö, Y.K, M.B, D.Y, E.K, F.E, and S.A.S, who were assessed to be in contact with those who carried out the attack, were also detained. The number of detainees rose to 13.

The 13 suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were referred to the Istanbul Courthouse following health checks. Nine of the suspects were referred to the court with a request for arrest, while 4 were referred with a request for judicial control.

9 PEOPLE ARRESTED

Nine of the 13 suspects detained within the scope of the investigation into the Serdar Öktem murder have been arrested. Four suspects were released under judicial control measures. It was noted that two of the 9 people arrested were under the age of 18.
