A first in the Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi murder trial

The main case against the two children who stabbed and murdered Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi has been merged with the file of the two detained children who were present at the scene.

The prosecution is requesting up to 20 years in prison for these two defendants for the crime of "aiding in the intentional murder of a child."

In today's hearing, all four defendants will appear before the court panel for the first time.

MARKET VENDORS TO TESTIFY

In the fifth hearing, the testimonies of seven market vendors who witnessed the murder on the day of the incident will be heard.

Yasemin Minguzzi, who has been waging a legal battle since losing her son, is demanding changes to the juvenile penal code and that no age-based sentence reductions be applied.

Stating that "This will be the hardest part for me," mother Minguzzi noted that the hearing would be difficult for her, saying, "I will be face-to-face with my son's four killers."

Expressing that those who came to support her give her strength, Minguzzi said, "One Ahmet is gone, but I have gained thousands of Ahmets. Unfortunately, we have lost other children since Ahmet. I have tried to stand tall for them, to put an end to these tragedies."

STATEMENT FROM THE LAWYER

Ersan Barkın, the lawyer for the Minguzzi family, stated, "We believe that this will be a trial where four people will be held responsible for murder by participation, but undoubtedly everyone will receive the punishment they deserve."
