A sad day for Özgür Özel

It has been learned that Özgür Özel's uncle, Necati Özel, passed away in Manisa at the age of 82 following a heart attack.

It was reported that the funeral for Necati Özel will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, following the noon prayer at Hatuniye Mosque in the Şehzadeler district of Manisa.

Necati Özel's passing has caused great sadness for the Özel family and their close circle.

Özgür Özel's brother, Barış Özel, shared the following statement on his social media account: 

"My dear uncle Necati Özel, known as 'Toto' within the family and as 'Kalli Hoca' in the neighborhood due to his football playing and commentary, who spent his career as a worker at a water purification machine factory in Germany, unfortunately passed away at his home today following an intestinal surgery he underwent 10 days ago. He was 82 years old. Tomorrow (Thursday, May 28, 2026), after the noon prayer, he will be laid to rest at Kırtık Cemetery from the Hatuniye Mosque in the center of Manisa. This is announced to all his loved ones. Our condolences."
