ABB responds to Osman Gökçek: 'We will not let you forget you are a thief': Turning the municipality into a family empire
AKP Ankara MP Osman Gökçek claimed that the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality held a tender for the purchase of 45 million cups worth 159 million liras. A harsh response came from the ABB.
Gökçek said, "Let's assume that three thousand of our five thousand citizens drink tea. Enough cups have been purchased to last Ankara for 41 years for funeral services," while the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality denied the allegations. Regarding the claims of AKP MP Osman Gökçek, the ABB stated, "We will not let a thief forget that they are a thief. Because if it is forgotten, they think of themselves as a monument to virtue."
AKP Ankara MP Osman Gökçek made various allegations at a press conference he held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) regarding the company to which Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş awarded a tender for cups and trash bags.
The ABB responded to Gökçek's allegations with a written statement.
The statement is as follows:
"This mentality, which for years distributed public resources to its own circle, turned the municipality into a family empire, and descended upon Ankara; now it has emerged, clinging to the politics of slander with shameless audacity.
However, everyone knows; in the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, those who commit crimes do not go unpunished. But we would like to specifically state: The address for those who claim to truly have evidence is clear. The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
It is also useful to remind the public of this point once again. We will not let a thief forget that they are a thief. Because if it is forgotten, they think of themselves as a monument to virtue."
