Abdülkadir Özkan, who called those calling for a boycott 'traitors,' has not paid a single cent in taxes for 3 years!
It has emerged that Dolmabahçe A.Ş., managed by Abdülkadir Özkan—who labeled citizens calling for a boycott as "traitors"—has not paid any taxes for the last three years.
Protests that began following the arrest of CHP's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu continue with calls for boycotts.
Most recently, a boycott call was made on social media against the event company DBL Entertainment.
Abdülkadir Özkan, the owner of DBL Entertainment, accused those supporting the boycott against the coffee chain EspressoLab of being "traitors" in a post on the X platform.
Following these remarks, social media users called for a boycott of the Muse concert that the company was set to hold in Istanbul on June 11 and conveyed their reactions to the guest artists of the concert. The situation was also communicated to Ane Brun, who was planning to perform in Turkey through the same organization firm.
Brun announced that she had canceled her concert, stating, "I was not aware. I support the students. I am taking action." As the boycott wave grew, it was announced that famous comedian Trevor Noah's Istanbul show on April 23 had also been canceled. Following the backlash, Özkan made a statement on his X account, claiming his words were misunderstood.
However, this statement did not quell the reactions, and the boycott calls continued unabated. In a new statement made in the evening, Özkan announced that he was withdrawing from all projects. Özkan stated, "In order to ensure that what has happened during this process does not negatively affect my teammates and the projects we are carrying out, we, as DBL Entertainment, are withdrawing from all projects."
FROM CONSULTANCY TO COMPANY OWNERSHIP
DBL Entertainment, managed by Özkan, operates under the umbrella of Dolmabahçe Basın Yayın Dağıtım Reklam ve Organizasyon Anonim Şirketi (Dolmabahçe A.Ş.). Dolmabahçe A.Ş., which houses brands such as Publico Coffee, GSA Defence, Kopernik Kitap, the monthly weapons magazine M5, Spor Alemi Dergisi, and Localworks Creative Solutions, organizes concerts for world-famous names.
According to the report by Nefes, it has emerged that the company has not paid taxes for the last three years. The company, which earns billions from concert events, did not pay a single cent in taxes in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Özkan, who previously served as a Press Advisor at the Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of National Education, also served as Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister in 2015.
