Abdulkadir Selvi's commentary on Palestine: Erdoğan will not hesitate to say 'Hey Israel' if necessary

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had called for "restraint" regarding the clashes in the Gaza Strip during his party's 4th Extraordinary Congress.

"HE WILL NOT HESITATE TO SAY 'HEY ISRAEL!'"

Addressing this issue in his column, Hürriyet writer Abdulkadir Selvi commented, "So, couldn't Erdoğan have spoken more harshly? Couldn't he have said 'Hey Israel'? He could have. He would have spoken. He would have even made the harshest statement. He will speak again if necessary. He will warn again. He will not hesitate to say 'Hey Israel'." 

Stating, "But at this stage, Turkey is a country that can talk to both Israel and Palestine. When a ceasefire needs to be achieved, Turkey can step in. Both the Palestinian and Israeli sides can request this. Turkey does not want to lose this position," Selvi also said the following:

"ERDOĞAN IS EXPECTED TO STEP IN"

"Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has not left his office since the moment the incident broke out. He is conducting shuttle diplomacy. So far, he has spoken with the foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Palestine, the USA, Jordan, and Spain. Following Hakan Fidan's shuttle diplomacy, President Erdoğan is expected to step in at the level of heads of state. Turkey is making efforts to prevent the war from deepening and spreading. Turkey is working on a model that the parties will accept to ensure a ceasefire, with the contribution of regional countries."
