Abdulkadir Selvi's take on 'Kenan Sofuoğlu': 'The fault lies with those who made him an MP'

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi has reacted to Kenan Sofuoğlu, who was a guest on Fatih Altaylı's program and stated that his time as a member of parliament was the "biggest mistake of his life."

"HE HAS NOT ENDURED SUCH SEVERE PERSECUTION!"

Selvi wrote, "At the first opportunity, I will ask Kenan Sofuoğlu if there was a place where they tortured him. Because what he describes is heartbreaking. Human history has never seen such severe persecution as being made a 'member of parliament.' One cannot burden a person so heavily, for heaven's sake! You might ask, what did they do to him? What else could they do? The AK Party went and made Kenan Sofuoğlu an MP."

"YOU SHOULD HAVE RESIGNED, MY BROTHER"

Recalling how Sofuoğlu would arrive at Parliament in his Lamborghini sports car, and the photo he shared of himself with his feet up on a desk alongside his aides, whom he referred to as his "orderlies," Selvi stated, "He lived his luxurious life, his wastefulness, right in the faces of our poor people. But during his 5-year term as an MP, he didn't take the parliamentary podium to give a speech, didn't concern himself with the problems of the region he was elected from, and didn't rack his brain over Turkey's issues. Yet, when voters from Kocaeli had the 'audacity' to call him, he rebelled, saying, 'Can such persecution, such torture be endured?' He even thought about resigning back then. You should have, my brother. Was there anyone forcing you to stay?"

Selvi added, "But the fault is not with Kenan Sofuoğlu; it lies with those who made him an MP."
