Access blocked to 47,493 websites in operations against illegal betting
In 680 operations conducted this year under the coordination of the Ministry of Interior, 5,629 suspects were detained and 3,231 people were arrested.
Within the scope of efforts carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Interior against online illegal betting activities, access to 47,493 websites has been blocked since the beginning of the year.
According to ministry data, 680 operations were conducted this year against the crime of illegal betting. In these operations, 5,629 suspects were detained.
Of the detained suspects, 3,231 were arrested, while judicial control measures were applied to 1,515 people.
The investigations were not limited to those who facilitate or allow illegal betting. Individuals who manage the infrastructure of the sites, engage in advertising activities, mediate money transfers, and are considered to have played a role in the transfer of proceeds of crime were also placed under surveillance.
Bank accounts, electronic money accounts, and crypto asset movements used by illegal betting sites to continue their activities are also being investigated within the scope of technical work and financial audits by cyber teams.
