Access issues on social media following operation against İmamoğlu!

Within the scope of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a large-scale operation has been launched against 105 people, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. As a result of the investigation, detention warrants were issued for more than 100 people, including İmamoğlu.

According to the information obtained, a search was carried out by security forces at İmamoğlu's residence. While no official statement has been made yet regarding the details of the operation, developments regarding the detention process are expected to be shared throughout the day.

ACCESS ISSUES ON SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS  

Following the public disclosure of the investigation, social media users reported experiencing access problems on X (Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube platforms. Users stated that they encountered slowdowns and connection interruptions when accessing the platforms.

According to information reported by NTV, it was stated that bandwidth throttling was implemented, particularly across Istanbul.

Bandwidth throttling refers to the restriction of internet traffic. By slowing down the data flow speed on the network, access to platforms such as social media is restricted. This practice can be implemented for security reasons or during social events in order to bring data flow under control.
