The X account of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was arrested as part of investigations against him and sent to Marmara Closed Prison in Silivri, was recently blocked.

Subsequently, an access block was also imposed on the international account that İmamoğlu had been using to continue posting in English.

While the decision has been communicated to internet service providers, it has been observed that the X platform has not yet made the account, which has 345 thousand followers, invisible from within Turkey.

According to Engelli Web, the legal provision cited as the reason for the decision was the "protection of national security and public order."

The decision has also been forwarded to internet service providers. It is not yet known which court issued the ruling.
