The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) had cancelled Açık Radyo's broadcasting license due to the use of the term "Armenian genocide," and the station's terrestrial broadcast was cut off on October 16. Açık Radyo is now returning as an internet radio station under the name 'Apaçık Radyo'.

According to a report by BBC Türkçe, Açık Radyo General Editor Ömer Madra said, "There will not be a situation that changes much.
