Actor Emre Canpolat's 'boycott' reaction to Yılmaz Erdoğan: 'You are wrong, brother'

While the number of artists supporting the CHP's call for a boycott is quite high, famous names who have lost their jobs simply for announcing their support are also coming to the fore.

While citizens expect famous figures to react in some way to events during such important days, the silence of many prominent names regarding these developments is also drawing criticism.

While screenwriter and actor Yılmaz Erdoğan's indifference to the events is being heavily criticized, perhaps the harshest criticism of Erdoğan came from his student, Emre Canpolat.

Canpolat expressed his reaction to Yılmaz Erdoğan through a long post on his social media account.

You have put a lot of effort into me, Yılmaz Erdoğan brother.

Let's come to the matter regarding your friend... 

I am not going to explain fascism to you, you know it.

I am not going to talk to you about world history, you know it.

I am not going to talk to you about totalitarianism or torture, you know it.

I am not going to talk to you about millions left without a future or hope, you know it.

You know it, yet you remain silent, I know.

I do not want to dig up old records. 

Whatever happened, happened, and it was for the best. But because it fits today, I will remind you;

Remember, we met in the BKM backstage one day after the Ankara Train Station Massacre... I had cursed Tayyip. Half of my family was in that square that day. I had cursed, remember... You protected your friend, equated me with ISIS members, and shouted at me.

Just as you were wrong that day, you are just as wrong today.

If you have left no one around you who can say 'You are wrong!' to you, let this be a gift from the apprentice to the master: You are wrong!

Your friend is oppressing us. We have reached a point where staying silent is now like wielding the whip alongside him. We did not bring things to this point; we could not satisfy your friend.

Back in the day, when they wanted to turn the AKM into a shopping mall, I had said 'You are wrong!' to you. It was my first time at the workshop; it was my first time saying 'You are wrong!'.
