ADD files criminal complaint regarding ÇEDES project
The Association for Kemalist Thought (ADD) has filed a criminal complaint, stating that within the scope of the ÇEDES project, students are being taken to mosques or religious officials are coming to schools to give seminars on various topics, and that these situations constitute extracurricular practices.
The Association for Kemalist Thought (ADD) has issued a statement regarding the extracurricular practices imposed on students within the scope of the ÇEDES project, filing a criminal complaint against the suspects and requesting the initiation of a public lawsuit.
ADD stated, "In incidents that have found wide resonance in the national press and social media, students are being taken to mosques within the scope of the 'I Am Sensitive to My Environment, I Protect My Values' (ÇEDES) project, or religious officials are coming to schools to give seminars on various topics, and this situation leads to extracurricular practices. It is evident that the aforementioned project was implemented despite warnings from experts and that it endangers secular education."
ADD stated that Ministry of National Education officials and school principals have also displayed attitudes contrary to their duties, adding, "In the events that are the subject of the file, it is clear that the Minister of National Education, along with the aforementioned school principals, have clearly acted contrary to the requirements of their duties or, at the very least, neglected to perform the requirements of their duties, and therefore, an investigation should be conducted in this regard as well."
