The remarks made by Attorney Gökhan Ağdemir, President of the Ankara Bar Association No. 2, during a program he attended on Bengü Türk TV have sparked controversy.
Ağdemir stated that they provide references for bar association member lawyers during their transition processes to the professions of judge and prosecutor and that they have held meetings with the Ministry, noting that 70 lawyers have become judges or prosecutors in two years.
"The Ministry granted us a privilege"
Ağdemir stated that they provide support to bar association members who want to become judges or prosecutors, using the following expressions:
"We provide references for our friends who want to become judges and prosecutors.
In our approximately 2-year working period, we have made 70 of our lawyer friends who are members of the bar association judges and prosecutors.
We provided references, we met with the ministries.
Thank goodness, the ministry granted us a privilege in that sense as well.
By referring our young colleagues, we caused them to be trained in the branches they wanted."
Ağdemir's statement that they met with the ministry and that a privilege was granted to their bar association in this process drew attention.

Reaction from Murat Emir regarding "judgeship guarantee"
YENI Party Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir reacted to Ağdemir's statements.
In a post on his social media account, Emir used the following expressions:
"Between bridges with transition guarantees and airports with flight guarantees, they have really broadened their vision. A Bar Association No. 2 with a guarantee of judgeship!"
The statements have brought about discussions regarding the role of reference relationships in the admission processes of judges and prosecutors to the profession, as well as the principles of merit and equality.
