Acquittal for Adnan Oktar: Notable defense in court

An important decision has been reached in the case heard at the Istanbul Anatolian 1st High Criminal Court regarding the organization known to the public as the "Adnan Oktar Criminal Organization."

Following the reversal of the previous verdict by the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice (appellate court) regarding certain charges, a retrial was held for Oktar and 15 other defendants.

The defendants, including Adnan Oktar, and their lawyers attended the hearing. Some defendants connected to the hearing via SEGBIS (Audio and Video Information System). The defendants had been charged with "forgery of official documents," "damaging or destroying official documents," "smuggling," "qualified fraud," and "money laundering."

PROSECUTOR REQUESTED SEPARATION OF THE FILE

In the prosecutor's opinion, it was requested that the charges of "smuggling" and "forgery of official documents" be separated from the other charges and evaluated within the scope of this file. Following the retrial, the court announced its decision regarding the aforementioned charges.

"THE LOVE WOMEN HAVE FOR ME WAS ENVIED"

Adnan Oktar made unusual statements while presenting his defense in court. Oktar said, "There are hundreds of Mahdi candidates in Turkey. They think I will declare myself the Mahdi one day. But if the Mahdi goes to prison, he becomes even stronger."

Oktar continued as follows:

"If you assign me, I can ensure peace between Israel and Palestine."

"I would stop the murders of women. Beautiful women are being killed every day."

"There is a major problem of love in Turkey. The government cannot provide this love. I showed that people who wear low-cut clothing, dance, and are cheerful can also be Muslim. The love women have for me was greatly envied."

The court panel acquitted Adnan Oktar and 13 defendants of the charges of "smuggling" and "forgery of official documents" for which they were being tried. The reasoning provided was that the actions attributed to the defendants were not defined as crimes under the law.

For the remaining 3 defendants, an acquittal was granted on the grounds that "the legal elements of the charged crime were not met."
