Adnan Oktar used Wickr for communication

It has been revealed that members of the Adnan Oktar Armed Criminal Organization conducted internal organizational correspondence through an encrypted communication program. According to a report in Sözcü, it was determined that the organization communicated with each other using aliases, just as in ByLock, the communication program of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).

REVEALED BY A CONFESSOR'S TESTIMONY

A member of the organization who became a confessor stated in their testimony on July 18, 2022, that the organization had been communicating via WhatsApp using foreign phone numbers following the major operation in 2018.

After news broke that WhatsApp was opening a representative office in Turkey, the organization began searching for a new communication program. Following this search, the Wickr program was found. Once it was determined that this program, which allows for both encrypted logins and time-limited messages, could run on mobile phones and computers, instructions were given to the organization's top leadership.

PROVIDED THE ALIASES OF THE EXECUTIVES

Another feature of the program, which was installed by members who are mostly fugitives abroad or allegedly linked to the organization's legal affairs chief, was that the user's IP address and location could not be detected. Thanks to this program, which was used from the beginning of 2021 until the middle of 2022, instructions from Adnan Oktar and the organization's top leadership were received. These instructions were then delivered to organization members through various means.

In their testimony, the confessor stated that organization executives Meltem Daban used the alias 'cassidy_leon', Ferhunde Eda Babuna used 'study22', İbrahim Köprülü used 'kevin2021', and Ufuk Zeytinoğlu used 'ortega1907' on the program.

INCLUDED IN THE INDICTMENT

The 352-page indictment prepared last month by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the current structure of the Adnan Oktar Community Armed Criminal Organization also identified the Wickr program as the organization's communication network. The indictment states that Adnan Oktar is the leader, while Meltem Daban and Ferhunde Eda Babuna are organization executives.
