A key figure at ID Menajerlik, the agency owned by Ayşe Barım, who was arrested over the Gezi Park protests, has joined the AKP. According to an announcement made by the AKP's Şişli District Presidency, the company's Advertising Manager, Gülsun Işıklı, has joined the AKP.
THE GEZI CASE AND BARIM'S ARREST
Ayşe Barım was arrested on January 27, 2025, on charges of "aiding in an attempt to overthrow the government" due to her alleged involvement in the Gezi Park events. Thirteen years later, she was sent to prison after being linked to the protests of that period. Barım remained in prison for a long time and had requested to be tried without arrest due to her illnesses.
Ayşe Barım had made calls for her treatment to continue in a hospital due to her severe illnesses. A release decision was issued on October 1, and Barım was taken to the hospital. However, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office objected to her release and requested her re-arrest. The Council of Forensic Medicine issued a report stating that Barım's treatment should continue in a hospital. Following these developments, the arrest warrant for Barım was lifted on October 24.
