According to a report by Yeniçağ, it has emerged that an Afghan national who was granted Turkish citizenship is running as an independent mayoral candidate in Istanbul's Beylikdüzü district.
Sedat announced his candidacy on his social media account.

On the other hand, it was revealed that the Afghan national, who uses the name İzzet Sadat as a Turkish citizen, was a parliamentary candidate in the 2023 elections for the Great Unity Party (BBP), a partner of the People's Alliance known for its nationalist identity.
It was also stated that the individual, who was nominated as a parliamentary candidate in the 6th spot for Istanbul's 2nd electoral district, also served as a district head for the BBP.
