After Bahçelievler and Yenibosna, now Kartal... Balcony collapses in 4-story building

In Kartal, on Banu Street in the Orhantepe neighborhood, a balcony on the 4th floor of a 4-story building collapsed at around 14:00.

Residents of the building experienced great panic upon hearing the noise. Debris from the balcony fell onto the street. Police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene following reports. Police and municipal police teams took security measures in the area. While there were no casualties or injuries in the incident, the building was evacuated by teams as a precaution.

'WE TOLD THEM BUT THEY DID NOT LISTEN'

Speaking about the incident, local resident Kaan Duru said, "This building is quite old. The building manager lives in his summer house because he thinks the building will be demolished. We warned those living in the building several times and told them they needed to report this situation, but they did not listen to us. In the end, the balcony collapsed. The rest will likely follow. I have been living around here for 10 years, and the building has been like this for as long as I can remember. Many buildings in the coastal areas have undergone urban transformation; I hope this one will too as soon as possible."
