Drawing attention with his comments regarding a possible Istanbul earthquake, Ercan listed 9 provinces where those living in fear of earthquakes could move.

Prof. Dr. Ercan stated, "Those who do not want to live in fear of earthquakes can move to Artvin, Rize, Trabzon, Giresun, Ordu, Samsun, Sinop, Kastamonu, or Zonguldak. Plenty of greenery and oxygen, the sea, fish, sincere friendship, a safe life. What more could one ask for?"
