Seismologist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür is among the leading experts who constantly issue warnings regarding an Istanbul earthquake. Görür has stated, "There will definitely be an earthquake greater than magnitude 7 in Istanbul," and emphasized that "the earthquake is imminent."
In a statement he made the other day, Naci Görür also used the expression, "An earthquake of magnitude 7 or greater can occur anywhere in Turkey at any moment."
AHMET ERCAN'S CALL FOR 'PROOF'
Most recently, Earth Scientist Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan made a statement on social media regarding a possible Istanbul earthquake.
Responding to claims that "an earthquake could happen in Istanbul at any moment," Ercan said, "Show me one piece of evidence that an earthquake will happen in Istanbul at any moment, and I will believe you!"
In his social media post, Ercan included the following statements:
"Show me one piece of evidence that an earthquake will happen in Istanbul at any moment, and I will believe you! As you keep saying this, politicians and contractors use your words to harvest votes and money. Construction is a dead investment that does not produce added value for the country. Investment should shift to industry. Please."
