Geophysical Engineer Övgün Ahmet Ercan has shared with the public the geographies with the lowest risk by examining current earthquake maps in Europe. While Scandinavian countries particularly stand out in the analysis, some regions in Turkey were also included among the safer areas.

COUNTRIES WITH THE LOWEST EARTHQUAKE RISK

Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan has individually announced the countries in Europe where the earthquake risk is almost non-existent. The Scandinavian region tops the list.

Ercan stated, "If you want to live in a country in Europe where there are no earthquakes, the countries you should go to are: Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Germany, Belarus; if you are going to stay in Turkey, the entire Black Sea coastal belt, Mardin, Batman, Siirt, Alanya."

RELATIVELY SAFER REGIONS IN TURKEY

According to Ercan's assessment, the Black Sea coast stands out in terms of earthquake risk in Turkey. Mardin, Batman, and Siirt in the Southeast, and Alanya in the Mediterranean are also indicated as areas with lower risk.
