Ahmet Hakan reacts to Kılıçdaroğlu's SİHA statement: "If he could have thought of such things, he would have won the election"
Hürriyet Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Hakan, in his column published today, reacted to the statement made by CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu regarding the US downing of a Turkish SİHA (armed drone).
Hürriyet Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Hakan criticized CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu over his statement, "Our SİHA is being downed, and we are hearing about it from another country again," made after the US downed a Turkish SİHA.
Stating that Kılıçdaroğlu remained silent regarding Turkey's air operations and declarations that "we will strike the PKK," Hakan used the following expressions in his column;
In the relevant section of his column today, Hakan noted the following:
"Turkey conducted air operations against terror nests in Iraq. Kılıçdaroğlu remained silent. Turkey declared terror targets in Syria as legitimate targets. Kılıçdaroğlu remained silent. Turkey told third parties, 'withdraw, we will strike the PKK.' Kılıçdaroğlu remained silent. Turkey decimated terror hubs in Syria. Kılıçdaroğlu remained silent.
Only when the US downed a Turkish SİHA did Kılıçdaroğlu speak up.
If Kılıçdaroğlu, as the leader of Turkey's main opposition, had first supported Turkey's fight against terrorism and then criticized the government regarding the SİHA downed by the US... he would have displayed a magnificent stance. He would have become both a domestic and national opposition. And he would have criticized the government in the harshest way possible.
I am so naive. If Kılıçdaroğlu could have thought of such things, he would have won the election, for heaven's sake."
