Ahmet Hakan's call to Erdoğan regarding 'retired generals': 'Isn't it time for a pardon?'

Hürriyet newspaper Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Hakan noted that President and AKP Chairman Tayyip Erdoğan had previously granted a 'pardon' to some of the retired generals held in prison who were suffering from health issues, writing: "Meanwhile, Çevik Bir had been released from prison due to advanced dementia following a prosecutor's decision to 'suspend the execution' of his sentence. There are other retired generals from the same case currently in prison," he wrote.

"I WISH THIS FILE WOULD BE PROCESSED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO THAT..."

Noting that Fevzi Türkeri, Yıldırım Türker, Cevat Temel Özkaynak, Erol Özkasnak, and Çetin Doğan remain imprisoned, Hakan stated: "Each of the retired generals in prison suffers from illnesses stemming from their advanced age. There are Forensic Medicine Institute reports. The file regarding the pardoning of these individuals is currently at the Presidential Complex. I wish this file would be processed as soon as possible so that these grievances could be brought to an end," he said.
