Ahmet Minguzzi's father met with Pope Leo
Pope Leo XIV met with Andrea Minguzzi, the father of Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, during his contacts in Istanbul. Andrea Minguzzi burst into tears, saying, "Ahmet did this too. He made me meet the Pope."
Andrea Minguzzi, the father of 15-year-old Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who was stabbed to death in Kadıköy, met with Pope Leo XIV in Istanbul. Speaking to journalists after the meeting, which took place at the Apostolic Nunciature in Istanbul, Andrea Minguzzi could not hold back his tears. Stating that he was very happy to have met the Pope, Andrea Minguzzi said, "I cried today, but I cried out of happiness. Ahmet did this too; he made me meet the Pope."
Stating that he had written a letter to the Pope two weeks ago, Minguzzi said, "Today, I had the honor of meeting His Holiness the Pope as part of his apostolic visit to Turkey. I asked him to bless Ahmet and our family. Our greatest wish is for his memory to continue to inspire peace. I asked him to pray for the mission of brotherhood we are carrying out. I expressed to His Holiness that Mattia Ahmet is also seen by Muslims as an angel of brotherhood, and therefore could be a meeting point for believers, so that every action we take may turn into a real good in the lives of other people. I offer my deepest gratitude to His Holiness for accepting me, receiving me into his presence, and fulfilling one of the greatest dreams of my life."
It was observed that Andrea Minguzzi could not hold back his tears during his statements.
