Ahmet Özer's comments on Mahir Polat: Prison conditions are not suitable

Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, who was arrested as part of the City Consensus investigation, drew attention to the health condition of IMM Deputy Secretary-General Mahir Polat in a statement shared on his social media account. Stating that Polat, who suffers from heart conditions and other health issues, faces life-threatening risks under prison conditions, Özer called for him to be "tried without arrest."

Özer, who is currently detained at Marmara Prison in Silivri, emphasized in his social media statement that Mahir Polat's health is under serious threat due to prison conditions. Noting that Polat is a heart patient and suffers from severe health problems, Özer stated that this situation should not be ignored in terms of law and human rights.

''WE WERE ALL ARRESTED UNLAWFULLY''

In his statement, Ahmet Özer also touched upon his own detention, using the following expressions:

“We were all arrested in an unfair and unlawful manner. The enemy criminal law applied to me is also known to the entire public. I have full faith that we will overcome these difficult and chained days by struggling together.”

PRISON CONDITIONS ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR MAHIR POLAT 

Ahmet Özer also recalled that he worked closely with Mahir Polat during the period he served as an advisor to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. Stating that it is dangerous for Polat to remain in prison conditions given his current health status, Özer continued his call as follows:

“The entire country now knows the risks of our very valuable friend Mahir Polat, with whom I worked closely during my time as an advisor to Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu, being held in the prison conditions we are currently in. We hope that action will be taken for Mahir Polat to be tried without arrest during this process due to his severe health problems and heart diseases.”
