Ahmet Türk recounts his meeting with Devlet Bahçeli: He made a reference to that TV series

Ahmet Türk, who was removed from his post as Mayor of Mardin Metropolitan Municipality and replaced by a government-appointed trustee, stated that three steps must be taken to increase trust in the process. Türk described the lifting of the trustee practice, the release of Selahattin Demirtaş, and the overturning of the sentences handed down in the Kobani case as "confidence-building measures."

NO NEED FOR LEGAL REGULATION

Speaking to Nergis Demirkaya from 24 Saat, Türk argued that there is no need for a commission report or new legal regulations for these steps. "There is no need to beat around the bush. What is important is for the government's thoughts on the Kurdish issue to emerge. The government, which holds the majority in Parliament, can bring the necessary regulations to the agenda," he said.

RESPONSE TO BAHÇELİ'S CALL

Türk evaluated the statements made by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli during his group meetings regarding the necessity of his reinstatement as mayor. "Bahçeli's assessments are very important to us. For the sake of Turkey's peace and brotherhood, the policy of appointing trustees must be abandoned. For peace to be established, reciprocal steps must be taken," he stated.

HE EXPLAINED THAT THEY SPOKE ON THE PHONE TWICE

Türk revealed that he had a private meeting with Bahçeli last year and that they also spoke on the phone twice. He stated that Bahçeli called him on the occasion of Berat Kandili, that he requested that the aid trucks to be sent to Kobani be allowed to pass through the Mürşitpınar Border Gate, and that Bahçeli said he would look into it.

He also confirmed the dialogue reported by journalist Ceyhun Bozkurt, in which Bahçeli made a reference to the TV series "Uzak Şehir" (Distant City).

EMPHASIS ON FREE CONDITIONS FOR ÖCALAN

Regarding the status of Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, in İmralı, Türk said, "Öcalan is not expecting to leave İmralı. But free conditions need to be created there. It is in Turkey's interest for him to be in contact with his organization. His meetings with the press and academics would provide an environment of trust in society."
