Aircraft fire drill at Esenboğa Airport

In the drill, an A321 passenger aircraft belonging to an airline, operating flight number 1261 on the Istanbul-Ankara route with 160 passengers and 7 crew members on board, crashed during landing as part of the scenario.

Due to the fire that broke out in the aircraft's engines and under the fuselage during the crash, an "aircraft crash" alarm was issued, and the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) teams were mobilized following the alarm.

The teams arrived at the scene within 3 minutes, intervened in the fire, and extinguished the flames in a short time. Since the crew could not open the aircraft door from the inside, the ARFF teams performed an external entry into the aircraft.

With the initiation of the rescue and evacuation operation, the injured were carried to ambulances on stretchers and transferred to hospitals after receiving initial intervention there.

Following the evacuation operation and fire cooling procedures, the aircraft was towed to a safe area, and the runway was reopened for traffic.

SUCCESS OF DHMİ GENERAL DIRECTORATE TEAMS SAVED 95 LIVES IN ANTALYA

Thanks to such drills, the aircraft fire that occurred at Antalya Airport on November 24 was responded to within seconds, and the 89 passengers and 6 crew members on the aircraft operating the Russia-Antalya flight were safely evacuated.

The ARFF teams once again demonstrated their success and the importance of these drills by bringing the fire on the Russian aircraft, which had practically turned into a fireball during landing, under control in about 2 minutes.
