AK Party files criminal complaint against CHP Mayor: Causing public loss
The AK Party Bursa Provincial Presidency went to the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office around 14:00 and filed a criminal complaint against Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey on the grounds of "causing public loss through abuse of office and breach of trust."
Making a statement in front of the Bursa Courthouse, AK Party Bursa Provincial Chairman Davut Gürkan said, "We are all following with attention and astonishment the investigations launched under the scope of organized crime due to the corruption and irregularities experienced in CHP-run municipalities in various provinces of our country, especially in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
Unfortunately, in this process, we have once again witnessed how far the CHP, led by their Chairman Özgür Özel, is from the interests and values of our country and our nation."
ALLEGATIONS OF PROFILING
Continuing his speech, Gürkan stated, "In the legal process that began with the reports and confessions of CHP members who fell out with each other due to their internal political conflicts and disputes over the sharing of rent; we as a nation are saddened to see a CHP whose 100-year history has been tainted by a mentality of colonialism and mandate-seeking, thanks to a Chairman who never believes in the rule of law or democracy, who does not hesitate to terrorize the streets to cover up corruption, who sees no harm in polarizing and pitting society against each other with hate speech, who even targets our police and public institutions, who can call for a boycott of the national economy by profiling our companies and tradespeople they do not see as politically aligned, who had to rush into an extraordinary election due to concerns about being placed under trusteeship because of their congresses overshadowed by delegate bargaining, and who, on top of all this, does not hesitate to complain about our country to foreign nations while wearing the mask of a victim and the mask of Atatürkism."
NEARLY 1.5 MILLION SPENT ON ÖZEL'S VISIT
Claiming that Bozbey disregarded the principle of merit, Gürkan said, "Management practices that are far from producing services, disconnected from the values of our people, and incompatible with public interest have unfortunately been increasing in some CHP-run district municipalities, especially in the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, over the last year.
We are here to request that the officially documented expenditure of 1 million 409 thousand 805 TL, which Mr. Mustafa Bozbey had paid from the coffers of the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality during CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's visit to our city last July, be examined before the law, as he tries to smear the previous term with unsubstantiated allegations to cover up his own inadequacies."
'PARTISAN STAFFING' ALLEGATION
Claiming that nepotistic appointments were made, Gürkan said, "Mr. Mustafa Bozbey, as soon as he took office, disregarded the principle of merit and terminated the employment of thousands of personnel at the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, paving the way for partisan staffing instead.
The name of Bursa, one of Turkey's largest and most beautiful cities, has unfortunately come to the agenda with harassment allegations, nepotistic appointments, and ad-hoc jobs in the Metropolitan Municipality under Mr. Bozbey's presidency. The presentation of projects that had already been completed and put into service by the AK Party to the public again under the name of an 'opening ceremony' has been recorded as the most tragicomic indicator of perception-based municipalism. On the other hand, the fact that even a parking lot in the Historical Bazaar and Inns District urban design project, which we completed with a budget of 500 million TL, still cannot be opened for service has been one of the most concrete examples of the CHP's understanding, which is far from execution, on behalf of Mustafa Bozbey and his team."
"HE IS TRYING TO TAKE CREDIT FOR BURSASPOR'S CHAMPIONSHIP"
Gürkan said, "First of all, I congratulate Bursaspor. We sincerely congratulate its fans, management, and president. I regretfully condemn the fact that he tried to take credit for Bursaspor becoming champion at the opening there. First of all, this statement made... I see it as a great disrespect to the president, management, fans, and our council members of the Bursaspor club. Because all decisions regarding support for Bursaspor were taken by council decision in the Bursa Metropolitan Council. And they were taken with the decisions of the People's Alliance, as you know, Bursa is one of the two provinces in Turkey right now. We have the council majority, they have the presidency. We stated a principle there from the very beginning. We will stand by our fellow citizens and provide support in everything that is in the interest of Bursa."
Gürkan added, "While I am at it, we also have an important piece of advice for Mr. Bozbey. No matter how high the figures they transfer from the Metropolitan budget to French newspapers to complain about our Turkey, they should not allow them to use the term 'apparatus' for their Chairman again.
I hope that for CHP administrators; they will start using the positions they hold and the budgets they manage not for the expectations of their relatives and cronies, but to serve the public to fulfill their demands as soon as possible.
I also hope that; they will come to the agenda with a municipalism of works and services, not perception. We are determined to follow up on all these processes on behalf of our nation and to hold everyone elected to these sacred duties accountable for every day and every penny they spend."
