AKP-affiliated owner of company found to have pork in its food: We are religious, we love our country
While the discovery of pork in food provided by a company called Saydamlar Catering in Düzce has sparked backlash, the company claimed in a statement that tests were conducted as required. In its statement, Saydamlar Catering emphasized that it is 'religious' and 'patriotic'.
It was determined that a sample taken on January 13, 2021, from Saydamlar Catering, a company that provides mass catering services to schools, dormitories, and factories in Düzce, contained pork.
It was learned that the owner of the company, which also appeared on the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's list of foods that are adulterated or pose a health risk, is Murat Saydam, the AKP Düzce Social Policies President.

In the statement released by the company, the following remarks drew attention: "We believe that the entire public of Düzce is aware of how much we love our country and flag, how sensitive we are regarding employment, that we pay our taxes to the state, and of our family's religious, worldly, and otherworldly sensitivities."
The company argued that the finding, based on data from only a single sample, was unfair.
