AKP-appointed trustee for Maydanoz Döner claims they didn't know they were a trustee!

AKP Istanbul Women's Branch Deputy Chair Meryem Karaköse has been appointed as a trustee to Maydanoz Döner. Karaköse, who is also a municipal council member for both Kağıthane Municipality and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, was assigned to this position on March 4. 

İsmail Arı from BirGün reached out to Karaköse, who has now made headlines with a peculiar statement. Karaköse told Arı that she 'did not know she had been appointed as a trustee.' 

Karaköse stated, “I have not yet received such information. I honestly wasn't expecting such a duty.”

AN OPERATION HAD BEEN CONDUCTED

An operation was conducted against Maydanoz Döner on February 21. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on his social media account that 353 suspects, including 10 public officials, were apprehended in the simultaneous "Kıskaç-40" operations targeting FETÖ across 31 provinces centered in Antalya. It was determined that the restaurant chain Maydanoz Döner was used to provide financing to the organization.

Providing information regarding those caught in the operation, Yerlikaya stated that the döner chain operated via a franchise system and that unofficial partnerships were granted in exchange for payment to individuals who were under investigation for FETÖ links or who maintained connections with the organization.

TRUSTEE BOARD MEMBER

Following the operation, it was announced that a trustee had been appointed to Maydanoz Döner. In a statement made by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF), it was said, "By court order, the TMSF has been appointed as trustee for 21 companies operating under the 'Maydanoz Döner' brand."

AKP Istanbul Women's Branch Deputy Chair Meryem Karaköse was also appointed as a trustee board member for Maydanoz Döner.
