Credit card impasse at AKP camp: 'Şimşek' puts the brakes on MPs' restructuring request!
During the AKP's three-day Kızılcahamam camp, members of parliament voiced demands for new restructuring options for credit and credit card debts. Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek opposed this request, stating that restructuring increases the habit of not paying debts.
Many issues were brought to the table during the AKP's three-day retreat in Kızılcahamam.
It was noted that after the process the ruling party calls a 'Terror-Free Turkey,' the economy formed the second main topic of the retreat.
According to a report by Besti Karalar from Ekonomim, while MPs were sharing their field observations, they reportedly said, "Retirees and civil servants receive raises twice a year. Why isn't this done for minimum wage earners? This creates injustice among workers. Citizens are complaining about economic hardships, exorbitant prices that change every day, high interest rates, and uncontrollably rising rents."
It was stated that some MPs requested that restructuring options, particularly for credit and credit card debts, be diversified and increased.
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, however, expressed that implementing restructuring for every debtis not the right approachand opposed thedemand.
Among the information obtained is that Minister Şimşek also pointed out that such restructuring measures create a habit of not paying debts after a certain period.
