AKP defends lieutenants at graduation ceremony: 'Insults are unacceptable'

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has signed the decision to take the AKP to its 8th Ordinary Grand Congress.

The calendar will begin on September 4. The first congresses will be held on September 12.

Making statements after the AKP Central Executive Board (MKYK) meeting, Çelik shared details regarding the congress process.

Highlights from Çelik's statement:

CONGRESS PROCESS IN AKP

Town and district congresses will be held between October and January. Provincial congresses will take place between December and March. After the congresses are completed by the end of March, our grand congress will be held. There may be provincial congresses that our President and Chairman wishes to attend, and there may be shifts in the calendar.

"REPORTS ARE FALSE"

The Medium-Term Program (OVP) will be announced on September 5. I would like to state that all reports regarding resignations within our economic management team are false. These are speculations. It appears that there are those who are uncomfortable with the positive results achieved. Our struggle against black propaganda is clear. We will focus on our work and fulfill the demands of our nation.

"WE ARE AGAINST ALL DISRESPECTFUL ATTITUDES TOWARD ATATÜRK"

They are trying to portray August 30 differently and Malazgirt differently. We stand against those who try to create a divided consciousness in our nation's memory. There may be political competition, but it should not turn into political hostility. Everyone is a first-class citizen in the Republic of Turkey. We would like to express that we are against all attitudes that are disrespectful to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in any way.

RESPONSE TO ÖZGÜR ÖZEL'S EARLY ELECTION STATEMENT

I mean, if there were a competition, this would be the worst joke of 2024. His claim that he would defeat our President cannot be considered a political assessment. After the election was over, he had said that they did not want elections and that they would provide services in the municipalities. It appears that this plan did not work. There is no early election in any way. The steps we will take within the framework of the Century of Turkey over the next 3.5 years are critical.

THE GRADUATION CEREMONY THAT SPARKED CONTROVERSY

Three of our female students graduated first in our land, naval, and air forces. The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) are the apple of our eye. Insults against the lieutenants are unacceptable. We will not allow efforts to revive the old tutelage mentality. Efforts to revive the old tutelage mentality are also wrong. There is no patriotism outside the law. These lieutenants were trained for the future of our country. Those who say 'they drew swords against the government' want to revive tutelage.

BRICS CLAIM

The process for membership in BRICS is ongoing. There is no concrete development regarding membership; if there is, we will share it.

KASIM GÜLPINAR'S RESIGNATION FROM YRP

A political party is established for a claim. Erbakan's statements began to create the perception that the YRP was established against the AK Party. Kasım Bey is a friend with whom we have done politics for a long time and walked the same path. He has used his own discretion in this way today. After Kasım Bey makes his own decision, if he has any discretion regarding our party, we will evaluate it then.

NORMALIZATION WITH SYRIA

There will be a meeting at the ministerial level, and a meeting calendar will be formed.
