AKP extends candidate application deadline

Political parties' preparations for local elections and candidate selection processes are continuing at full speed.

APPLICATION DEADLINES EXTENDED

AKP Deputy Chairman and Head of Election Affairs Ali İhsan Yavuz announced that the deadline for municipal and provincial council membership candidate applications, which was set to end on Friday, January 5, has been extended.

Prospective candidates will be able to submit their applications until 19:00 on Wednesday, January 31. President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also made a statement today regarding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate.

Responding to questions from members of the press while arriving at the AKP Headquarters, Erdoğan announced that the Istanbul candidate would be revealed on Sunday.

The ‘Municipal and Provincial Council Membership Candidate’ applications, which were set to end on Friday, January 5, 2024, have been extended until 19:00 on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
