AKP figure puts an end to 'radar' debates on the agenda: Our goal is to protect citizens

During the Eid al-Adha holiday, the General Directorate of Security announced the locations of fixed radar and electronic inspection systems, and Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya stated that inspections would be intensified throughout the holiday and would be implemented immediately.

The application in question had caused debates among the public. Following the discussions, AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler made a statement.

Responding to a question regarding the legislative proposal that also includes regulations for increasing traffic fines, Güler stated that the proposal is on the General Assembly's agenda.

Güler emphasized that the inspections during Eid al-Adha were not related to the proposal and that these inspections are carried out continuously.

Pointing out that an average of 6 thousand 350 people lose their lives in traffic accidents in Turkey every year, Güler stated that the amount of administrative fines has been increased with the proposal to ensure deterrence.

Güler emphasized that their goal is to protect citizens and reduce fatal traffic accidents, stating, "No fine is more important than human life. For us, human life and the safety of our citizens come before everything else. There is no such thing as a 'radar fine' in our law."

Responding to a question regarding the regulation on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in the legislative proposal for energy and mining, Güler said, "The existence of the EIA continues to be protected. The very existence and elements of the EIA are being clarified in a much more conceptual sense."
