AKP figure's 'candidacy period baklava' paid from municipal coffers: Corruption exposed

Sancaktepe Mayor Alper Yeğin described the nepotistic appointments, waste, and corruption that occurred during the AKP era. Yeğin stated that former AKP mayor Şeyma Döğücü purchased 3.5 million [lira worth of] baklava during her candidacy period, charging the bill to the municipality.

Yeğin exposed the corruption that took place during the AKP era. Mayor Yeğin explained, one by one, on a live broadcast, the nepotistic appointments, waste, and corruption carried out during the term of former Mayor Şeyma Döğücü.

3 MILLION LIRA FOR BAKLAVA

Stating that the municipality engaged in waste during the Şeyma Döğücü era, Yeğin said, “On January 1st, they bought 4,750 kilos of baklava at 750 lira per kilo. Today, a kilo is 500 lira. They are demanding payment for boxes of Turkish delight that had AKP candidate Şeyma Döğücü’s name written on them. Those who squandered this district’s money on this and that taught this district what waste is,” he stated.

APPOINTED HER RELATIVES AS CIVIL SERVANTS IN THE MUNICIPALITY

Addressing Şeyma Döğücü, Yeğin demanded accountability, asking, “Why did you hire your relatives and make them civil servants? Why don’t you come out and explain it to the people? What were you relying on when you did this?” Expressing that money was spent recklessly during the Döğücü era, Yeğin said that in addition to Döğücü’s relatives, the relatives of AKP council members were also hired at the municipality, that the municipality was saddled with a debt of 400-500 million lira one month before the election, and that AKP members sent their relatives on Umrah and vacations to the USA using sponsorships.

In the continuation of his statements, Yeğin announced that the municipality was saddled with 400-500 million in debt one month before the election during the AKP era, stating, “Waste is hiring the first-degree relatives of every AKP official. It is hiring the relatives of every council member. It is hiring anyone who walks in front of the district [office].

Sending employees to the district is waste. The car provided to the district head is waste. Imaginary tenders are waste. Saddling this municipality with 400-500 million in debt one month before the election is waste. Spending 10 months of the municipality’s budget in 3 months is waste.

These are what waste is, my brother. Those who squandered this country’s money on this and that taught this district what waste is. We do not send people on Umrah through sponsorships. We do not send people on vacations to the USA through sponsorships. We do not send council members on vacation with kickbacks taken from contractors. This district experienced these things. Everyone is a witness,” he said.
