AKP's İmamoğlu and Yavaş plan revealed! 'In the event he wins against Erdoğan...'

In the CHP, which has initiated the process of determining its presidential candidate, all eyes have turned to the primary on March 23.

Nefes Gazetesi columnist Nuray Babacan has put forward striking claims regarding the latest 'plans' in AKP circles and Yavaş's distant attitude.

In her article titled "The AKP's Ekrem-Mansur equation!", Babacan conveys the AKP's 'game' plan as follows:

"Simply put; 1- The candidacy of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu will be blocked by non-legal intervention.

2- After that, it will be Mansur Yavaş's turn.

3- Even if the plan does not conclude so clearly, a rift will be created between İmamoğlu and Yavaş, and a division will be achieved.

4- As in the general elections, the opposition will be forced to enter the election in a fragmented and problematic manner.

As for the details and evaluations in the corridors. There are those who look at the issue only through the lens of blocking Ekrem İmamoğlu's candidacy. According to them, the plan only involves blocking İmamoğlu's candidacy. It is planned for the opposition's candidate to be Mansur Yavaş."

"HE KNOWS THE BALL WILL COME TO HIS FEET"

"Comments are being made that Yavaş's candidacy is also the preference of the nationalist wing within the state, and that the operations carried out aim to pave the way for him. There are claims that the infrastructure is being prepared to be suitable for him," says Babacan, noting that interpretations suggest this is the reason for Mansur Yavaş's measured and distant stance during this process, and that he is maintaining a balanced attitude so as not to alienate CHP members and the votes that will come from this base, knowing that the ball will eventually come to his feet.

Nuray Babacan expressed the answers given by AKP members to questions about why Erdoğan would prefer Yavaş as a rival instead of İmamoğlu as follows:

"1- The strong relationship İmamoğlu has established with the street poses a serious risk for Erdoğan.

2- Mansur Yavaş could be an easier rival in the election campaign.

3- He may experience problems with encompassing the entire country. Yavaş, who is already distant from the Kurds, would receive no support from this segment if results are achieved in the resolution process. He turns into an easy rival.

Those who take this scenario even further cite as a reason that even if Yavaş were to win against Erdoğan, he would be someone 'with whom it would be easier to establish a relationship, who would pose less risk to them, and who could be easily persuaded regarding holding people accountable and creating a record of past periods'."
