AKP's Kıratlı and CHP's Başarır walk towards each other: Profane argument in the Turkish Parliament
A profane argument broke out in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) between AKP Mersin Deputy Ali Kıratlı and CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır.
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Celal Adan. Taking the floor during the 1-minute segment allocated to deputies in the General Assembly, AKP Siirt Deputy Mervan Gül stated, "Ali Mahir Başarır's vile Silivri threat and disgusting insults directed at our President are the pinnacle of immorality and foulness.
These insolent words fit neither democracy nor the values of our nation. They only expose the chaos-mongering mentality of the CHP that spews hatred. This is a despicable attack on our President, that is, on the will of our nation."
During AKP deputy Gül's speech, CHP deputies banged on their desks.
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır and AKP Mersin Deputy Ali Kıratlı walked towards each other following mutual heckling.
While Başarır said, "Who are you, man? You are ill-mannered. Are you trying to lecture me here too?", Kıratlı replied, "You are the one, you scumbag. So what, you show-off. Son, why don't you come out here and make the speech you made over there, go ahead, do it, come on, do it, man."
As the heckling between the two continued, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Celal Adan intervened and stated that deputies should use clean language.
"WHAT KIND OF THING IS IT TO MAKE AN ACCUSATION OF 'VILE'"
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır said, "I have stated the details of what I said regarding the speech on television, but let's say I used the wrong language; what kind of thing is it to make an accusation of 'vile' while explaining this? I am asking you. Your Media Communications Director takes the speech and writes 'Shoo' on it. Is this the right language? I am asking. A lawsuit was filed, an investigation was launched at jet speed at night, and a non-pecuniary damages lawsuit was filed."
AKP Group Deputy Chairman Abdulhamit Gül stated regarding the argument, "The Group Deputy Chairman, as was just expressed, became an agenda item. The language used is truly language that does not befit democracy or the CHP; that is, there is no acceptable side to this language that discriminates against society and voters and uses expressions towards our President that we cannot accept."
